Pre-Industrial Training at R.V. Labs

R.V. Labs offers practical, hands-on Pre-Industrial Training designed to provide students with fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to modern analytical techniques used in food, agricultural, chemical and microbiological laboratories. The programme helps students understand laboratory instruments, analytical procedures, food quality assessment, adulteration detection and basic microbiological techniques before entering an industrial environment.

Instrumentation techniques

Instrumentation Techniques provides students with hands-on exposure to modern analytical instruments and instrumental methods used in professional laboratories. The training covers chromatographic, spectrophotometric and electrophoretic techniques, enabling students to understand instrument principles, sample preparation, calibration, operation, data interpretation and analytical reporting.

1. Chromatographic Techniques

Hands-on training in TLC, Preparative Chromatography, HPLC, and Gas Chromatography for practical analytical applications. Trainees learn sample preparation, instrument operation, chromatographic separation, and method execution. Training also covers chromatogram interpretation, identification, and quantitative analysis.

TLC, Preparative Chromatographic Techniques

Practical training in Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) for the separation, identification, and screening of chemical components. Trainees learn sample preparation, plate preparation, spotting, solvent selection, development, and visualization techniques. Preparative chromatography training introduces compound separation, isolation, purification, and collection of desired components.

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

Hands-on training in HPLC covering sample preparation, mobile-phase preparation, instrument setup, and system operation. Trainees learn column selection, method conditions, injection techniques, chromatographic separation, and system suitability. Gas Chromatography

Hands-on training in Gas Chromatography (GC) for the separation and analysis of volatile and semi-volatile compounds. Trainees learn sample preparation, injection techniques, instrument setup, column selection, and operating conditions. Training includes chromatogram interpretation, peak identification, retention time, and quantitative analysis.

2. Spectrophotometric Techniques

Practical training in UV/Visible Spectrophotometry, Flame Photometry, and Colorimetry.
Trainees gain experience in sample preparation, calibration, instrument operation, and measurement procedures. Training includes quantitative analysis, concentration determination, and interpretation of analytical results.

UV/Visible spectrophotometer

Hands-on training in UV/Visible Spectrophotometry for qualitative and quantitative analysis of various laboratory samples. Trainees learn sample preparation, wavelength selection, instrument operation, calibration, and absorbance measurement. Training includes preparation of calibration curves, concentration determination, and interpretation of spectral data.

Flame photometry

Hands-on training in Flame Photometry for the determination of selected elements in laboratory samples. Trainees learn sample preparation, standard preparation, instrument setup, calibration, and flame operation. Training includes measurement, calibration-curve preparation, concentration determination, and interpretation of results.

Colorimetry

Hands-on training in Colorimetry for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of various laboratory samples. Trainees learn sample preparation, reagent handling, calibration, wavelength selection, and color/absorbance measurement. Training includes standard curve preparation, concentration determination, and interpretation of analytical results.

3. Electrophoresis Techniques

Hands-on training in Gel Electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE for the separation and analysis of biomolecules. The program covers band analysis and interpretation of electrophoretic profiles. Particularly valuable for Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Life Sciences students.

Gel electrophoresis

Hands-on training in Gel Electrophoresis for the separation and analysis of DNA, RNA, proteins, and other biomolecules. Trainees learn sample preparation, gel preparation, sample loading, electrophoretic separation, staining, and visualization. Training includes band pattern analysis and interpretation of electrophoretic results for research and laboratory applications.

SDS PAGE

Hands-on training in SDS-PAGE (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate–Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis) for the separation and analysis of proteins based on their molecular size.
Trainees learn protein sample preparation, gel preparation, sample loading, electrophoresis, staining, and visualization. Training includes protein band pattern analysis and estimation of molecular weight using appropriate standards

4. Food quality and adulteration studies

Practical training in food quality evaluation and detection of common adulteration using laboratory techniques. Trainees learn sample preparation, physical and chemical examination, and relevant testing procedures. The training develops an understanding of food purity, composition, quality, and conformity assessment

5. Microbiological studies

Hands-on exposure to fundamental microbiological laboratory techniques and sample examination procedures. Training covers aseptic handling, media preparation, sample processing, microbial cultivation, and basic enumeration.
